Peppermint (mentha piperita) invigorates, clears the head, stimulates and is soothing, refreshing and cooling.
Peppermint (Mentha piperita)
The oil is extracted from the fresh or semi-dried leaves and flowers of the herb.
Traditionally, people drank peppermint as a tea or chewed the leaves to cure 'complaints of the stomach or nerves'.
The essential oil is nearly one third menthol, which is why it invigorates, clears the head, stimulates and is soothing, refreshing and cooling.
In aromatherapy, it is excellent for headaches, mental fatigue, muscular pain, sunburn, insect bites, nausea, indigestion or menopausal hot flushes.
How to use:
Bath & Shower
The essential oil is inhaled through the aromatic steam, as well as being absorbed by the skin. Add up to 5 drops in 2 tbsp bath oil, shower gel or carrier oil.

This technique helps to clear your head and nose. Add 4–6 drops to a bowl of steaming water, place a towel over your head and breathe.
Massages
Energises your body and mind while helping to soothe aching muscles. Use up to 15 drops in 2 tbsp of base oil.
Diffusers & Burners
A natural air freshener, this technique creates an energising ambiance and mood. For adults, add 1–3 drops in a diffuser or burner.
