Why I’m Changing Oleo: A Personal Update After 18 Years

In 2008, with much trepidation, I single-handedly launched my skincare company, Oleo Bodycare Ltd. Eighteen years and thousands of orders later, I am proud to say that my little company is thriving.

I would be lying if I did not say that at times it has been a hard slog. For a one-woman show, it means putting in long hours, seven days a week. It has been a joy, though, and I genuinely enjoy what I do.

However, I am also eighteen years older and have reached the ripe old age of retirement. Consequently, I have decided to implement some changes at Oleo. I am reducing the Oleo range; some of your favourites will no longer be available, but my best sellers will remain.

You will also notice soon that some of the packaging is changing. My plan is to replace the 60g blue jars with 100g white jars made from Prevented Ocean Plastic (POP). This is plastic that has been retrieved from seashores before it has the chance to enter the ocean and damage marine life. It can then be made into usable and recyclable packaging.

As you will be getting more product in these new jars, the initial cost will be higher, but gram for gram the item will actually be cheaper. Furthermore, while there will be no more newsletters announcing an Oleo sale, my reduced overheads mean that the new prices will actually reflect a permanent 20% discount off the usual price.

I will be sharing more specific details on these transitions very soon.

Obviously, Oleo would not be where it is today without your continued custom, and I sincerely thank you for your support over the years. Nothing in life stays the same, but I hope you continue to enjoy using your planet-friendly, consistently skin-friendly Oleo products.
